How do I define the best books ever?

Some books can be read thoroughly from cover to cover without stirring emotions or thoughts. They are like an adequate movie that simply passes the time and is quickly forgotten about.

"The best books ever" will stay with you for the remainder of your lifetime. Here is a variety of books from many different of genres to suit any mood. A compilation of well written books that have stood the test of time, and will never disappoint. No matter what subjects interest you in particular this group of 20 books can be counted on to keep you up at night to devour the entire plot storyline and message.

• How To Win Friends and Influence People, by Dale Carnegie- This one has probably made its way to everyone's list of must reads. If you are in sales, business, or just interested in having better relationships with people this book is enjoyable, historical, and educational. Remember, this is a motivational book and it is important to approach motivational books with a positive attitude. Some people forever knock information with remarks such as, " I have done that, and it doesn't work", or "this will never work." Those people have ruined the valuable information and lesson without ever digesting the books content. I was 19 the first time I read this book and had just gotten a job in sales. After two weeks in my new position I was the top earner out of more than 30 sales people, and the envy of my co-workers as I received cash bonuses and the owners of the corporation looked at me in awe. I was dedicated to taking any information and making it work and I had tremendous success after reading this book for the first time.

• It, by Elinor Glyn- The title may not mean much to modern readers, but in the 1920s this book was such a great hit that a movie by the same title was released with Clara Bow as the "It" girl. In recent years the word "It" has been pushed again in order to get some of the same enthusiasm as it did in the 20s, but has failed miserably by comparison. Elinor Glyn explains in this novel that the person who possesses "It" will win the one they love and receive all comforts in life because they have that indefinable "It."

• Of Human Bondage, by Somerset Maugham- A well written and intriguing story that many writers have tried in vein to duplicate over the past century. The story of hopeless unrequited love still stirs emotions by all who read this novel.
  

• Rich Dad Poor Dad- By Robert Kiyosaki. This is an inspiring and educational book that is also highly entertaining. It was such a great success that it has led to numerous Rich Dad Poor Dad publications. The original should not be missed, no matter what your interests are.
  

• 1984- The George Orwell classic that was written in 1948, and Orwell simply switched the numbers around to "1984" as he wrote the story of the future. After reading this one, you may be shocked to see many of Orwell's depictions off the future to be taking shape today. Maybe these changes were not so evident in 1984, but they sure are now.This book was full of impact when it was originally published and delivers twice as much today. Don't miss this book!
• Red Headed Woman- Written in 1931, this is a gem as far as books about conniving females who know how to get what they want. This was such a popular novel that in 1932 a movie with the same title was released starring Jean Harlow in the lead role. The movie is a funny, and stimulating pre-code classic.

• Gone With The Wind- A classic for all time. The movie was unforgettable and if you still have never read the book, it is well worth the read. The historical details that Margaret Mitchell envisions along with the twisted tale of determination, self destruction and love, are images that will stay with you long after putting the book down.
  
• The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People- by Stephen R. Covey, this is truly an inspirational book that leaves you feeling refreshed, energized, and creative. As solid as they come as far as books that will change your life.
  
• The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz- No matter what your age is; this is a touching and beautifully written classic that anyone can enjoy. IF you have never read Victorian writing, It should be mentioned that even though this story is considered to be a children's book, it was not written in the style of modern children's books. It is not "childish" as modern children's book writings are, and that kiddie quality of youth books is replaced by with a very colorful, mature and imaginative flavor that no longer exists.
  
• Lolita- by Vladimir Nabokov is one to satisfy the perverse and bizarre mood. The story of a middle aged man, Humbert, who falls for a 12 year old girl. Funny, sad, and feelings of desperation, set the mood for this unusual tale. As Lolita refuses to play along with Humbert.
• Anna Karenina- by Leo Tolstoy, this is the sad and tortured story of self destruction. Anna is a married aristocrat who has an affair with an exciting Count who persuades her to leave her husband, causing Anna to become shunned by everyone in her life. The negative reactions combined with her guilt lead to Ana's insecurity and loneliness. Anna's low self esteem and possessiveness towards the Count begin to cause strain in their relationship and begin to turn him off, and he eventually turns against Anna along with everyone else. The Greta Garbo and Fredric March version of the movie was an excellent portrayal of this classic story and is also worth the watch.
  
• Leave Her To Heaven- by Ben Ames Williams. This story is probably best remembered by the general public as a classic 1940's movie starring Gene Tierney. But before it became the classic movie it was a best selling novel. The tale of a twisted woman who manipulates a man into marriage only to manipulate him in every way with her jealous insecurity.
• The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde- The strange story a a beautiful man who sells his soul in an effort to remain flawless forever. The life sized portrait of Dorian ages and shows the ravages of sin instead of Dorian himself. I think many people have fantasized about having such a portrait.
  
• An American Tragedy - by Theodore Dreiser , who is one of my very favorite authors. He bases this story on the infamous true life event of of Grace Brown's murder at the hands of her boyfriend, Clyde Griffiths because she was pregnant and refused to "get rid of the child."
• Sister Carrie- Also by Theodore Dreiser. The story of a woman who knows what she wants and strives to use men to assist her gains.
  
• Think and Grow Rich- by Napoleon Hill. Well written and interesting throughout. Napoleon hill has personally spoken to masters of wealth Andrew Carnegie and John D Rockefeller.
  
• The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde- By Robert Louis Stevenson-With all the movie versions that deter from the original story, many modern audiences don't remember the real story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The perfection of Dr. Jekyll and the beastly and "monkey like" Hyde. The greatest movie version of this book is undoubtedly the Fredric March depiction, as Hyde is nothing but the worst in man, and Fredric March is the handsome and gentlemanly humanist.
  
• The Postman Always Rings Twice- by James M Cain. If you love crime novels, you will have a hard time putting this one down. It has been turned into a motion picture more than once, however, the one to watch is the 1946 version with James Garfield, as the drifter who falls for the married Lana Turner, and they who plot to murder her husband.

If you are an entrepreneur and are constantly looking for books to keep you inspired, motivated and educated Donald Trump is always a great author to turn to. His name arouses emotions that run from admiration to disgust and hatred. Sometimes all by the same person and all within three minutes.

The truth is that Donald Trump is a smart, sophisticated business man who knows how to turn just about anything into money. He can be despised by women due to his poor treatment of his first wife and seemingly egotistical marriage to a beautiful shell. These qualities are great for Trump when it comes to backing up his image as one who gets things done. His marriage and relationships with women are part of his persona. They help back up his image in the eyes of America, and that eventually turns to hard cash for Trump's benefit.

Anyone who whines that Trump has made business mistakes is simply a whiner. Use your entrepreneurial skills and see that every entrepreneur makes bad deals. That is part of being in business. But Trump always recovers to find himself even richer than he was before he got into business trouble. That is the hallmark sign of a winner.
